Softball Game Preview: Anderson County Bearcats vs. Franklin County Flyers

The Anderson County Bearcats will venture away from home to challenge the Franklin County Flyers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Anderson County has 15 straight wins, Franklin County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Anderson County barely beat Boyle County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bearcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rebels a 6-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Lacey Osborne was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Stevens, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ella Baum, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Franklin County came up short against Lafayette on Wednesday and fell 8-4.

Anderson County pushed their record up to 25-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin County, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.
