Basketball Recap: Holmes Comes Up Short

Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were dealt an 81-44 defeat at the hands of the Sotomayor WILDCATS. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1049th, while the WILDCATS are ranked 234th).

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josiah Corona, who posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Corona a new career-high in points. Joseph Ramon was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Sotomayor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Demian Joyner, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jasiah Saunders, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points.

Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Sotomayor, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Holmes will look to defend their home court on December 20th against Harlan at 6:30 p.m. As for Sotomayor, they will head out to challenge Stevens at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Sotomayor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.
