Basketball Recap: Santa Paula Skates Past Hueneme with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Channel Islands, Santa Paula was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 79-33 victory over the Hueneme Vikings. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Vikings are ranked 1295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Hueneme lost, don't look at Eric Lerma. Despite the final result, he posted nine points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Santa Paula is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Hueneme, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

Santa Paula wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-41 win against Nordhoff on the 17th. Hueneme has also already played their next game, a 63-44 defeat against Fillmore on the 17th.
