Basketball Recap: Asheville Cougars vs. A.C. Reynolds Rockets
Asheville was the 48-42 winner over A.C. Reynolds when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Asheville Cougars took a blow against the A.C. Reynolds Rockets on Tuesday, falling 81-51. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 520th, while the Rockets are ranked 212th).

Despite the loss, Asheville still got an impressive performance from Andre Thomas, who made all 8 shots he took racking up 20 points and three steals. Those 20 points gave Thomas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Shaw, who posted five points and five rebounds.
Leading A.C. Reynolds to victory were Declan Brown and Jaaron Frye. Brown almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards, while Frye went 7 of 13 on his way to 19 points and three steals. Frye is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Duncan Carver was another key player, putting up 11 points.
