Basketball Game Preview: Chariho Chargers vs. East Greenwich Avengers

The Chariho Chargers will square off against the East Greenwich Avengers at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Chariho has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 13.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 94-50, which was the final score in Chariho's tilt against West Warwick on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Wizards are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, East Greenwich was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Hope on Saturday, taking the game 65-54. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Avengers.

East Greenwich's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Chariho, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

Chariho lost to East Greenwich at home by a decisive 63-44 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2021. Can Chariho avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
