Volleyball Recap: Katie Rojas Key Part of Team Effort in Wolves Win

Gorton won the last time they faced Greenburgh-North Castle and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Knights.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Gorton took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-9, 25-8.

Gorton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katie Rojas, who had eight kills and six aces. That's the most aces Rojas has posted since back in September. Ny'Asia Carcamo was another key player, getting nine assists and eight aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Gorton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 34 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 15 aces in eight consecutive matches.

Gorton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Greenburgh-North Castle, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Gorton is set to take on their familiar foe Spring Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Greenburgh-North Castle will face off against rival Barack Obama School for Social Justice at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
