Basketball Game Preview: North Brunswick Scorpions vs. Ashley Screaming Eagle

North Brunswick is 1-9 against Ashley since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The North Brunswick Scorpions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ashley Screaming Eagle at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

North Brunswick is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Laney. While losing is never fun, the Scorpions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 389th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 116th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mariah Bell, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in November of 2023. Adrianna Gomez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Ashley didn't have quite enough to beat Topsail on Tuesday and fell 59-56. The Screaming Eagle have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Brunswick's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Ashley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.
