Baseball Game Preview: Williston Northampton Wildcats vs. Salisbury School Crimson Knights

The Williston Northampton Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Salisbury School Crimson Knights at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Williston Northampton came up short against Pomfret School on Friday, falling 10-1.

Meanwhile, Salisbury School entered their tilt with Berkshire School on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 14-2 win. Considering the Crimson Knights have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Matt Chirumbolo tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Michael Fiatarone was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Traylor, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Salisbury School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Salisbury School pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Williston Northampton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Williston Northampton was able to grind out a solid victory over Salisbury School when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 8-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
