Recap: Avon Pirates vs. Alcester-Hudson Cubs

The Avon Pirates lost against the Alcester-Hudson Cubs back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Avon was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to Alcester-Hudson. Avon has struggled against Alcester-Hudson recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Alcester-Hudson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Bovill, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The match was Bovill's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Van Egdom, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Avon's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4. As for Alcester-Hudson, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Avon's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ethan at 8:00 p.m. on January 4th. Ethan is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Alcester-Hudson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Canistota at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Canistota knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Alcester-Hudson likes a good challenge.
