Recap: Austin Achieve Polar Bears vs. Taylor Ducks
The Austin Achieve Polar Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Taylor, falling 76-12. While losing is never fun, Austin Achieve can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1398th, while Taylor is ranked 440th).
Taylor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Asia Zachary out in front who scored 14 points along with four steals. Tiana Candee was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
Austin Achieve bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Taylor, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Austin Achieve is on the road again on Friday and play against Caldwell at 6:15 p.m. on December 15th. Caldwell has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18. As for Taylor, they will head out on the road to face off against Manor New Tech at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Manor New Tech is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
