Basketball Game Preview: Red Mesa Redskins vs. Whitehorse Raiders

The Red Mesa Redskins will venture away from home to face off against the Whitehorse Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Red Mesa is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since January 31, 2024 on Saturday. They took a blow against El Capitan, falling 86-28. The defeat continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Whitehorse came up short against Monticello on Friday and fell 81-68.

Red Mesa will have to keep a close watch on Hyatt Thomas and Adam Joe, a pair of players who had a big impact on Whitehorse's prior game. Thomas posted 21 points, while Joe had 19 points. The dominant performance gave Joe a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalin Tohonnie, who scored nine points.

Red Mesa now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Whitehorse, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8.

Red Mesa came up short against Whitehorse when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 53-41. Thankfully for Red Mesa, Lyric Phillips (who earned 27 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
