Baseball Game Preview: Freedom Patriots vs. Mitchell Mountaineers

The Freedom Patriots will head out to square off against the Mitchell Mountaineers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Freedom's hitters haven't had much luck over their past seven matchups, but Wednesday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Freedom came up short against Watauga on Tuesday, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, while Mitchell put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Bethel Christian Academy. The Mountaineers put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 12-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mountaineers.

Sam Jones was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Jacoby Dale was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Mitchell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Mitchell, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Everything went Freedom's way against Mitchell when the teams last played back in March, as Freedom made off with a 14-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
