Baseball Game Preview: Obion County Rebels vs. Westview Chargers

The Obion County Rebels will square off against the Westview Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Obion County is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Carlisle County just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Comets, falling 7-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Rebels were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Westview had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 7-2.

Westview let Thomas Myers and Graham Simpson run wild. Myers scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Simpson scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Simpson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kohen McWherter, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Westview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Obion County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Westview, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
