It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Elizabethtown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Nelson County Cardinals, sneaking past 4-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Elizabethtown's win bumped their record up to 26-9. As for Nelson County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-11 record this season.

Elizabethtown will head out to challenge Breckinridge County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Nelson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
