Basketball Recap: Manistique Takes a Loss

Manistique lost against Ishpeming back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Manistique Emeralds were outmatched by the Ishpeming Hematites and fell 77-35. While losing is never fun, the Emeralds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Hematites are ranked 120th).

Manistique dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Ishpeming, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manistique will head out to face off against Negaunee at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Negaunee will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Manistique surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ishpeming, they will head out on the road to challenge Iron Mountain at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Ishpeming is facing Iron Mountain at the right time seeing as Iron Mountain is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
