Baseball Recap: Dowling Catholic Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Dowling Catholic and Ankeny meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Maroons lost 11-5 to the Hawks. The Maroons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 13-1.

Dowling Catholic has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Ankeny, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-19.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Hawks beat Dowling Catholic by a score of 6-3 later that day.
