Basketball Recap: Animas Comes Up Short

Animas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 29th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 73-15 loss at the hands of the Magdalena Steers. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

James Jarvis and Weston Strickland certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Jarvis posted eight points, while Strickland put up no points.

It was another big night for Joseph Zamora, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds for Magdalena. Zamora's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jeffrey Stuteville was another key player, going 7 for 9 on his way to 14 points and eight boards.

Animas' defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Magdalena, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.

Animas will face off against Reserve at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Magdalena has already played their next game, a 43-34 victory against Cliff on the 25th.
