Football Game Preview: Kirtland Hornets vs. Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains

The Kirtland Hornets will host the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kirtland is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Kirtland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Colonel Crawford 49-22. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for John Silvestro, who rushed for 231 yards and four TDs while picking up 12.2 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October. Jake Laverde was in the mix as well, providing Kirtland with two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kirtland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 443 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 178 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Hopewell-Loudon had just enough and edged out Coldwater 20-18 on Friday.

Kirtland's record is now 14-0. As for Hopewell-Loudon, their record now sits at 13-1.
