Preview: Marion Warriors vs. Council Grove Braves
Marion is 1-8 against Council Grove since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The pair will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Marion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
While it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, Marion was not quite Elyria Christian's equal in the second half on Saturday. Marion fell just short of Elyria Christian by a score of 50-48. Marion has struggled against Elyria Christian recently, as their match on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Grace Hett, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Erin Regnier, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Council Grove scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past West Franklin 53-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Council Grove has posted yet this season.
Marion's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Council Grove, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.
Marion beat Council Grove 33-25 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Does Marion have another victory up their sleeve, or will Council Grove turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
