While Wakeland put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Newman Smith. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Trojans. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Kayla Courcy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
