Softball Game Preview: Madison Cubs vs. Jennings County Panthers

Madison hasn't had much luck against Jennings County recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cubs will host the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Neither Madison nor Jennings County posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Madison's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oldham County on Tuesday. The Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Jennings County also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Columbus North by a score of 6-2.

Arian Day spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jennings County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Hack, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

Madison now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Jennings County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
