Baseball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Shafter

Shafter came tearing into Tuesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Wasco Tigers by a score of 10-7. This was a revenge game for the Generals: when they faced off against the Tigers back in March, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Andy Gomez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Gomez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joaquin Garza, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Shafter's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Wasco, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Shafter beat the Tigers by a score of 7-0 on Thursday.
