Softball Recap: Oxbow Beats Lake Region for Their 31st Straight Win

Oxbow put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Lake Region Rangers get on the board and left with a 24-0 victory. The Olympians' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matches.

Anastase Bourgeois made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Maggi Ellsworth and Brooke Osgood did most of the damage at the plate: Ellsworth went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base, while Osgood went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Osgood has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mazie Bourgeois, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Oxbow hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive contests.

Oxbow pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.1 runs over those games. As for Lake Region, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oxbow will challenge Randolph at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake Region, they will face off against Bellows Free Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
