Softball Game Preview: St. Pauls Bulldogs vs. Red Springs Red Devils

For the second straight game, St. Pauls will face off against Red Springs. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Pauls will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

St. Pauls was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Red Springs on Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew past the Red Devils 16-6. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won eight in a row.

Kayla Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up six earned runs off eight hits. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Angel Purcell was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ke'Mya Baldwin, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

St. Pauls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

St. Pauls picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Red Springs, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.
