Basketball Game Preview: Godby Cougars vs. Munroe Bobcats

Two dominant guards in Mekhi Butler and Zelden Chukes are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Godby Cougars challenge the Munroe Bobcats at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday... One thing working in Godby's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.

Godby easily dispatched Chiles on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Godby fell just short of Rickards by a score of 65-62 on Friday. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Munroe suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2023 on Saturday. They came up short against Crossroad Academy, falling 51-31. The Bobcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-11.

Godby will have to contain Isaiah Wright as he made an impact in Munroe's last game. He went 6 for 8 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ke'Yun Adger, who posted seven points.

Munroe's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. As for Godby, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Godby was able to grind out a solid win over Munroe when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 63-50. Does Godby have another victory up their sleeve, or will Munroe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
