Volleyball Preview: Basalt Longhorns vs. Steamboat Springs Sailors

The Basalt Longhorns will stay at home for another game and welcome the Steamboat Springs Sailors at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Basalt came up short against North Fork and fell 3-1.

Meanwhile, Steamboat Springs didn't have quite enough to beat Glenwood Springs on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Sailors have struggled against the Demons recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Steamboat Springs took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-15, 19-25, 18-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Maizey Bringuel, who had 16 digs. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: she now had 16 or more in the last four games she's played.

Basalt now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Steamboat Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Basalt skirted past Steamboat Springs 3-2 when the teams last played back in September of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Steamboat Springs' Layla Hammond-Furst, who had 37 digs and two aces.
