Baseball Game Preview: Lutheran Lions vs. Air Academy Kadets

The Lutheran Lions will head out to face off against the Air Academy Kadets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lutheran couldn't beat Palmer Ridge on Thursday even though they stacked six runs on them in the first inning. The Lions fell just short of the Bears by a score of 13-12. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bears 6-1 in the first period.

Anthony Misch made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Parker Sorenson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Air Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Discovery Canyon, falling 10-4.

Wyatt Kelley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit.

On the hitting side, Keegan Cornelius was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Lutheran's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-7. As for Air Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4-1.

Lutheran skirted past Air Academy 6-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
