Two dominant backs in D'marcis Gresham and Eli Wilbanks are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Roseville Tigers will square off against the Hughson Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Roseville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Hughson likes a good challenge.
Roseville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took down Escalon 49-30. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Cougars are ranked 336th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Roseville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenny McClure led the charge by rushing for 45 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also picking up 63 receiving yards and one score. (JJ) Oreste Yong also helped out with an impressive 147 receiving yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Roseville proved: they limited Escalon to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Justin Fischer for the heroic effort on defense: he. Roseville didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.9.
Roseville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Fischer. He is on a roll when it comes to interceptions, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hughson). They breezed past Pioneer to the tune of 49-6 on Friday. The Huskies pushed the score to 35-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had little chance of recovering from.
Hughson's win came from a few key players Roseville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hudson Baldwin, who threw for 219 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Titus Beers, who picked up 121 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Hughson's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Valente Soria and Tristan Benham, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Another thorn in Pioneer's side was Soria, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made nine total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Roseville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.0 points over those games. As for Hughson, their record now sits at 9-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Roseville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hughson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 164.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
