Volleyball Recap: Coventry's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Coventry entered their tilt with Windsor Locks on Saturday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Coventry took every set by at least 17 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-6, 25-3.

Coventry got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abigail Polo out in front who had 17 aces and seven digs. Polo has been hot for a while, having also posted 18 or more assists the last 43 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooke White, who had six digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Coventry was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 36 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 11 consecutive matches.

Coventry's win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Windsor Locks, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Coming up, Coventry will look to defend their home court on Monday against Granby Memorial at 5:30 p.m. As for Windsor Locks, they will head out on the road to challenge Canton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
