South and North are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. It'll be Northside v. Southside when the South Spartans and the North Stars meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Kingsburg, sneaking past 44-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Meanwhile, North entered their tilt with Santa Ynez on Wednesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 61-43 victory over the Pirates. Given the Stars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while the Pirates are ranked 437th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.1 points over those games. As for South, their victory bumped their record up to 19-10.

South skirted past North 59-56 in their previous meeting on February 5th. The rematch might be a little tougher for South since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
