Hampton County has gone 7-0 against Lake Marion recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hampton County Hurricanes will look to defend their home court against the Lake Marion Gators at 7:30 p.m. Hampton County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Last Tuesday, Hampton County strolled past Edisto with points to spare, taking the game 57-40.
Hampton County's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Darius Brooks, who posted 22 points and four steals, and Tyler Davis, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Brooks has scored at least a third of Hampton County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquan Solomon, who had eight points and six boards.
Meanwhile, Lake Marion made easy work of Barnwell on Tuesday and carried off a 61-38 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.
Hampton County better keep an eye on Jeremiah Smith. He was instrumental in Lake Marion's win, going 7 of 17 on his way to 24 points and four steals. Those 24 points gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Miles, who put up 13 points and eight rebounds.
Lake Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests.
Hampton County's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Lake Marion, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Hampton County hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 61.2 points per game. However, it's not like Lake Marion struggles in that department as they've been averaging 55.1 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
