Softball Recap: Estero Drops Season-High Score on Island Coast

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Estero). They put the hurt on the Island Coast Gators with a sharp 23-2 victory on Tuesday. The Wildcats have beaten the Gators the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Gators has come to flipping the script.

Estero got a massive performance out of Carlee Estrada, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Estrada also put up a stolen base, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Baxter, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Estero was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .609. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The win got Estero back to even at 4-4. As for Island Coast, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Estero didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-4 victory against Cypress Lake on the 6th. As for Island Coast, they will challenge East Lee County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Island Coast is facing East Lee County at the right time seeing as East Lee County is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
