Basketball Recap: Northampton County Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Northampton County had won four straight home games and Jiyoun Williams did his part to make it five on Thursday. The Northampton County Jaguars came out on top against the North Edgecombe Warriors by a score of 75-64 thanks in part to Williams, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten boards. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played.

Another player making a difference was Gmarcus Faison, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why North Edgecombe lost, don't look at Nyzir Mills. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahmir Parker, who put up 11 points.

Northampton County has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for North Edgecombe, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Northampton County Jaguars take on the Wilson Prep Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for North Edgecombe, they will face off against KIPP P at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. KIPP P knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully North Edgecombe likes a good challenge.
