Flag Football Recap: Monroe Area Comes Up Short

Monroe Area extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-6. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jackson County Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Purple Hurricanes of the 12-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Jackson County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.2 points on average over those games.

Leading Jackson County to victory were Anslee Davis and Aliyah Haney. Davis rushed for 30 yards and a pair of TDs, while Haney rushed for 61 yards on only seven carries. What's more, Davis posted two rushing touchdowns, the most she's had since back in November of 2024.

Monroe Area wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 21-6 victory against Walnut Grove on the 29th. As for Jackson County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Winder-Barrow at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
