Soccer Game Preview: Washington Union vs. Reedley

Washington Union is 0-4 against Reedley since January of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Washington Union Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Reedley Pirates at 6:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Washington Union is headed into the matchup having not lost since December 11 and will look to keep things rolling. They never let Fowler onto the board and left with a 1-0 win on Friday. Alexis Lopez had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Reedley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Bullard on Tuesday. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Knights are ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Washington Union is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those eight contests. As for Reedley, their win bumped their record up to 7-3-3.

Washington Union suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Reedley in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Washington Union avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
