Baseball Recap: Perryton Comes Up Short

Perryton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 10-7 to the Palo Duro Dons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-4 back in February.

Alexis Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Caden Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Perryton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Palo Duro, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Perryton and Palo Duro could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Perryton will take on Canyon at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday down 667 places (769 vs. 102). Similarly, Palo Duro (ranked 508th) will meet Amarillo (ranked 213th) at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
