Softball Recap: Belvidere Buccaneers vs. Geneva Vikings

Belvidere and Geneva squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Belvidere had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-3. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kyleigh Kamholtz spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on 12 hits.

On the hitting side, Zoey Pereira and Brecken Ralston-Walsh stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pereira went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Ralston-Walsh went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Belvidere's defeat dropped their record down to 15-15. As for Geneva, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-19.
