Volleyball Game Preview: Galax Maroon Tide vs. Patrick County Cougars + How To Watch

The Galax Maroon Tide will face off against the Patrick County Cougars at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Galax came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Grayson County. The defeat continues a trend for the Maroon Tide in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Patrick County didn't have quite enough to beat James River on Thursday and fell 3-2.

Patrick County took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 17-25, 20-25, 25-21, 18-16.

Despite the loss, Patrick County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jenna Woods had 20 digs and one assist. Those 20 digs set a new season-high mark for Woods.

Galax's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Patrick County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's match: Galax hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.1 blocks per game. It's a different story for Patrick County, though, as they've been averaging only 1.9 blocks. Given Galax's sizable advantage in that area, the Cougars will need to find a way to close that gap.
