Basketball Recap: Elijah Liddiard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Maple Mountain over Timpview

Maple Mountain's game on Friday was all tied up 31-31 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to the Timpview Thunderbirds 64-60. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Thunderbirds are ranked second).

Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Liddiard, who went 5-for-9 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. Liddiard is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cooper Day, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 13 points.

Maple Mountain's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Timpview, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-5.

Looking ahead, Maple Mountain will take on Cedar Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Maple Mountain has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 191 points over their last three matches. Timpview does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
