Softball Recap: Ridgefield Extends Winning Streak to Four

Ridgefield waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Washougal Panthers as they made off with a 21-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 25-0 two weeks ago.

Madeline Bruguier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ridgefield got a massive performance out of Abbey Hite, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those three hits gave Hite a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Harris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.

Ridgefield lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Ridgefield's record now sits at 11-2. As for Washougal, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgefield will face off against Columbia River at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spudders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rapids have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season. As for Washougal, they will square off against R.A. Long at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
