The East Bay Indians will face off against the Gaither Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
East Bay is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Spoto as they made off with a 21-6 win. Considering the Indians have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
East Bay got a massive performance out of Molly Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Johnson has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamiira Austin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
East Bay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Gaither not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 10th (when they won 21-2). They never let Freedom get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Cowboys haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Kacey Wilkes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Wilkes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Gaither let Chyann Herring and Carolyn Emanuel run wild. Herring went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Emanuel went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That triple was Herring's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lacey Giunta-Heuss, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
With the victory, East Bay broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-16. As for Gaither, their record now sits at 9-10.
Everything went East Bay's way against Gaither when the teams last played back in February of 2019, as East Bay made off with an 11-2 win. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Cowboys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
