Recap: St. Helena College and Career Academy Hawks vs. Collins Tigers

The St. Helena College and Career Academy Hawks pushed their score all the way to 66 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 74-66 to Collins. While losing is never fun, St. Helena College and Career Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 249th in Louisiana, while Collins is ranked 102nd in Mississippi).

Collins got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylen Willingham out in front who scored 27 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Willingham has scored all season. Logan White was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine steals.

St. Helena College and Career Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Collins, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Helena College and Career Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face French Settlement at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. French Settlement is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Collins, they will head out on the road to challenge Richton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Richton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
