Football Recap: The Linsly School Takes a Loss

The Linsly School extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They took a blow against the New Philadelphia Quakers, falling 49-7. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cadets came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 20th in West Virginia, while the Quakers are ranked 183rd in Ohio).

As for New Philadelphia, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. The game marked their most dominant win of the season.

Kolston Fox was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 26 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Caleb Carlisle made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. The Linsly School will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Barnesville at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for New Philadelphia, they will challenge Madison Comprehensive at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Quakers will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
