Basketball Game Preview: Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings vs. Andrew Thunderbolts

Homewood-Flossmoor has gone a perfect 5-0 against Andrew recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings will square off against the Andrew Thunderbolts at 6:30 p.m. Homewood-Flossmoor knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 games -- so hopefully Andrew likes a good challenge.

Homewood-Flossmoor will head out to face Andrew after giving up their first home loss of the season on Saturday. Homewood-Flossmoor took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hillcrest. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Hawks are ranked 86th).

Homewood-Flossmoor's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Darrius Hawkins Jr, who went 6-for-8 en route to 17 points and seven steals, and Jayden Tyler, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 26 points. Those seven steals gave Hawkins Jr a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Andrew entered their tilt with Bremen on Monday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 56-49 victory over the Braves.

Homewood-Flossmoor suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 26-3. As for Andrew, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-16.

Everything came up roses for Homewood-Flossmoor against Andrew when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 91-58 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Homewood-Flossmoor since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
