Softball Recap: West Central Trojans vs. Winamac Warriors        
        
		
            
 After a string of seven wins, West Central's good fortune finally ran out  on Thursday. They fell just short of the Winamac Warriors by a score of  5-4. The  defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Central in their matchups with Winamac: they've now lost nine in a row.
  Jaden Erb was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She  didn't allow a single  earned run over seven innings pitched. Erb was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Annika Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with a  home run and two  RBI.
 On Winamac's side,  Brooke Rausch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits. Rausch has been consistent recently: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in five consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Makayla Werner was  excellent,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Brody Goodman, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.
 Having lost for the first time this season, West Central  fell to 7-1. As for Winamac, they now  have a winning record of 4-3.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Central will play host again  on Saturday to welcome Kankakee Valley, where first pitch is scheduled  at 11:00  a.m. As for Winamac, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Knox at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. Winamac is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.1  runs per game  this season.
