Recap: Central Lions vs. Hampton Hornets
The Central Lions put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Hampton as Central made off with a 57-37 victory. Considering Central has won five contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Khaven Cochran continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 12 points along with four steals. Cochran is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Zekyle Amir, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
Central's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Hampton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will finish 2023 at home by hosting North Paulding at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Paulding will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 470th, while Central is ranked 31st). Hampton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mt. Zion at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Mt. Zion has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 212 points over their last three matches.
