Softball Recap: Piner's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

If Piner was riding high fresh off their 14-0 takedown of Santa Rosa on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Prospectors lost 12-4 to the Ukiah Wildcats on Thursday. The Prospectors' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Mialynn Membrilla put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Membrilla was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Membrilla wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Briana Sanchez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Piner's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-8. As for Ukiah, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-7-1.

Coincidentally, Piner and Ukiah will both be playing Elsie Allen the next time they take the field. The Prospectors will host the Lobos at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wildcats will host them at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th.
