Soccer Recap: Maine East Comes Up Short

If Maine East was feeling good fresh off their 4-1 takedown of Proviso West on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blue Demons came up short against the Vernon Hills Cougars on Tuesday, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Maine East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 361st, while Vernon Hills are ranked 169th).

Maine East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Vernon Hills, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-6-2.

Coming up, Maine East will head out on the road to face off against Wheeling at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Vernon Hills, they will look to defend their home pitch on Saturday against Libertyville at 12:00 p.m.
