Baseball Recap: North Medford Has No Trouble Against South Eugene

North Medford got themselves on the board against South Eugene on Tuesday, but South Eugene never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Axe with a sharp 10-0 victory. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Black Tornado yet this season.

Ben Morgan and Brady Pattersen did most of the damage at the plate: Morgan got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Pattersen scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three RBI gave Morgan a new career-high. Macen Baker was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

North Medford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

North Medford pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for South Eugene, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. North Medford will take on rival Grants Pass at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Black Tornado 3.8, the Cavemen 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, South Eugene is set to challenge their familiar foe Roseburg at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
