Preview: East Lake Eagles vs. St. Petersburg Green Devils

The East Lake Eagles and the St. Petersburg Green Devils will round out the year against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

East Lake has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 20 points or more this season. They took their match at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 64-12 victory over Pinellas Park. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-3.

East Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Church led the charge by scoring 14 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Tyler Becker, who scored nine points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, St. Petersburg entered their tilt with Mitchell with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. St. Petersburg managed a 64-60 victory over Mitchell last Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

East Lake's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points per game. As for St. Petersburg, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

East Lake came up short against St. Petersburg in their previous matchup back in February, falling 57-48. Can East Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
